In the absence of flowers

I took a walk but couldn't find much blooming yet. There were two bloodroots coming up, but they were a little battered by the storm.

I had Jasmine with me and she battered one of them even further. She became very interested in whatever I was looking at. I don't think she sees the point of stopping to look at flowers.

Here are a couple of musical pictures from earlier in the winter.

Treble clef - I took a picture of the locust bean when the light was harsh. I continued my walk, thinking I'd come back later and get a better shot. But by the time I returned, a squirrel had stolen it away.

Quarter notes - Sycamore seed balls.

  1. Wow, love that pic of the sycamore seed balls! I've been looking around here for interesting things to photograph, it's just not happening. Come on spring!

  2. I love your blog. I ran across it on the recently updated list. It made me miss my childhood home in rural northern Idaho. Life seems like such a mess in the city.

  3. Thanks all. It drives me nuts that I wasn't able to get a better picture of the locust bean... because I'll probably never find another one shaped like that.

After typing the file name for that second picture I was reminded of a movie that a famous blogger was in.

  4. After thinking about this for a while I realized that I had my musical terminology a little mixed up. Those should be quarter notes instead of whole notes. So I went back and edited the post, because I'm incredibly anal that way. I'm figuring that you can sense the shallowness of my musical background now...
