I don't normally do these things. But when Jenni asks, I can't say no.
You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be:
One that's hidden.
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
In high school I had a crush on Strider (from the Lord of the Rings series). More recently, I liked Daniel Pecan Cambridge from "The Pleasure of my Company" (Steve Martin).
The last book you bought is:
"Trilliums" by the Cases is in my shopping cart right now.
The last book you read:
Girl with a Pearl Earring.
What are you currently reading?
"Gardening Life" by Lee May. Also trying to read through 50 million magazines so I can get rid of them.
Five books you would take to a deserted island:
1 - a book on the natural history of the island
2 - a book about how to live off the land on an island
3 - a book of poetry thick enough to stun an ox
4 - an encyclopedia of similar size
5 - a book about how to get off of islands
Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons)? And Why?
Anyone who wants it, have at it.
How was Girl With A pearl Earring? I loved the movie, have you seen it? About Guns, Germs and Steel--it's a very interesting book but the downside is that his prose style is a little too academic--almost text-bookish. But the theory feels well defined.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed it. I haven't seen the movie yet, so can't tell you how it compares.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to use the library - not buy so many books - since we are in a smaller space. Having to get rid of a lot of books... I'm having a little problem not wanting to let them go. :)
I knew someone reminded me of my crush on Strider!
ReplyDeleteGood choice of crush with Daniel Pecan Cambridge. I thought he was rather appealing too, the further I read into that book.
ReplyDeleteMaktaaq, I guess you can have Strider... my husband would probably get jealous!
ReplyDeleteMaikopunk, if you like Steve Martin, the audio version of the book is great - he reads it himself. Same thing with "Shopgirl", which I also liked but not as much as this one.
If you live in Alabama you should read "Big cotton" I think that Ann Lamont has a new book out. Just finished a hoot of a book titles Rock Orchard.
ReplyDeleteFirst time I have ever paid any attention to a blog. Yours is a lot of fun. This country lawyer has been on the farm since 1974 I can promise you it only gets better.
Thanks John! I'll check those books out.
ReplyDeleteLiving out here has taught me a lot of things... but mainly that everything you need on a farm comes in a bag that weighs at least 50 pounds. :)
