Found your lovely site via Skippy. Hope you and yours are safe. What do you do with so many critters to keep everyone safe? I always worry about evacuating because I at one time had several cats. Can you get everyone to high ground? Keep us up to date. Great pics and, barring errant hurricanes, looks like a great place to live.
Thanks everybody. We did some storm shopping: junk food galore. Also cooked up a little in advance in case power is out for a while.
The local stations can't agree on whether this storm will be worse than or not as bad as Ivan. We were lucky then - hope we are this time too.
Jer the only time the cat is still is when she's asleep! :)
Swampy, yep, a green anole (Anolis carolinensis). Same guy as here, except now he's actually green! He was showing his pink dewlap, but I didn't get a shot of it.
LauraJ, yep that's a mimosa, a.k.a. silk tree (Albizia julibrissin). Not native of course, but to tell you the truth I love the way the flowers smell!
Most of the critters will probably ride out the storm with us in the front of the workshop. The chickens will go in the coop, and the ducks - well during Ivan we learned that ducks actually kind of like storms. They aren't bothered anyway. :)
Hello to all the visitors from Skippy! Thanks for stopping by.
I'll try to check back in later, assuming we have power. :)
I think the last photo proves Jasmine was duped into the "fowl faux pas". It would appear to be a cat caught in the act of mesmerizing an innocent dog.
Hello from up the road in Huntsville. We spent a lovely afternoon out of doors at our neighborhood swimming pool. How often do you get chilly in Alabama in July?
I hope today finds you safe and not too flooded from Hurricane Dennis... I will be anxious for a post from you letting us know how you and your wonderful homestead have handled Dennis!
Crossing my fingers that it passes on by, as well.
ReplyDeleteI love you photos, as usual. :)
Blessings.
Dusty is gorgeous. He should be modelling or something.
ReplyDeletestay safe. keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. Is that cat ever awake? ":^)
ReplyDeleteKeep dry and warm!
My brother lives in Natchez -- looks like he will be getting a pretty strong dose of Dennis.
ReplyDeleteKeep a weather eye...
And that looks like an anole. If so, it just isn't fair that you have anoles -- we're too far north here. :(
Just checking in to wish you the best. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteBTW your kitties are the cutest.
Bless you and your beasts, and is tha mimosa?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you were in the projected hurricane path. Hoping for the best for you.

ReplyDeleteTake care during this storm.

ReplyDeleteHere comes the rain.....good sleeping tonight!
Stay safe. I do wish that the remnants of Dennis would chug up the middle and drop some rain on our parched fields. - Regards, Suzanne
ReplyDeleteBonnie and Clyde and Little Big Man were both directed by my favorite Director, Arthur Penn...

ReplyDeleteThanks everybody for all the well-wishes! We came through it just fine. My favorite kind of hurricane: the kind that fizzles out in a hurry. :)
ReplyDeleteNow there is the matter of all that junk food I shouldn't have bought...
I am hopelessly in love with Dusty. Sigh. She looks like a negative image of my Sophie.
ReplyDeleteIsn't she adorable?! I'm trying not to play favorites, but well, she's my favorite. :)
