October Game Cam

Being busy with work has kept me from blogging -- the biggest craft show of the year is coming up soon. I've been wanting to post these game cam pictures, but Blooger hasn't been cooperating very well. Here they are, a little late.

Jasmine is usually the star of the first and last picture, since she supervises the memory card removal and reinsertion.

The coyote was too fast for the trigger. I've left the bottom part on the picture this time to show what it looks like right out of the camera. The Cuddeback shows the time, date, and its logo. I normally crop it out of the pictures since I find it distracting.

A raccoon going the wrong way. I cropped this one since he was small in the original.

Sometimes the subject is traveling too fast to appear in the picture at all.

Dang! A nice bobcat pic, but why can't he be facing the camera?!

These are my favorites though.

Hello!

Cool.

Hello!

Ha! He seems like a young'un.

I adjusted the turkey photos' brightness and contrast since it was a very gray day.

Jasmine finds a stick in the fog.

Hubby turned the cam to point in the opposite direction, so maybe we'll get more head-on shots next week.

  1. At least you got great turkey and dog photos. Wish I had a camera like that to put on our trails!

Well worth the wait! I could probably use a camera like that to get some pix of my interlopers.

All the photos are great reminders of the monsters in the dark, but those turkeys are just great!

That reminds me - I've gotta getta cuddeback.

    Great turkeys!

And interesting other, un, hind ends.

But finally, and with drum roll - Jasmine, soon to be appearing at your multiplex in "Ghost Dog of Alabama." She's such a dear.

  8. Turkeys are a pretty common sight here in PA, but I'd give anything to see even the backside of a bobcat!

Wonderful shots!! I'm with Dave--backside, frontside, any side of a bobcat is a great thing to see!

I bet the picture with nothing in it is a vampire bat. Vampires don't show up in pictures..Just so you know for future reference..

Jasmine looks like one of those dogs you feel powerfully compelled to give a mighty hug to. You just don't get that fluffy and kindly-looking without warranting some hugs.

The pictures of creatures running away reminds me of one of my girlfriend's cats named India who is the true embodiment of a scaredy-cat and is always running away. Many a shot has been taken of her in mid-flight, many with her partially off-camera.

  15. Thanks everybody, sorry I haven't had time to read or write much lately. I hope after the big craft show is over things will improve.

Several people have asked where we got our camera. It's from bossbuck.com. Their packaging for shipping was not the best in the world, but ours arrived in good shape anyway. The new Cuddeback is a bit cheaper than what we paid, plus it's got a faster trigger speed (3/4 sec compared to 1 sec).

Today (the 27th) it was gray and rainy all day. Hubby went for a walk between storms, and actually saw the bobcat! I wish I'd gone with him.

H&B2, oh yeah, a vampire! I should have known. :)

KR - the bobcat was first.

RW - Well I hate to admit it (because I don't like him much) but it's probably Michael Schumacher. I've only been a racing fan for 5 years or so, but my favorites in F1 have been Mika Hakkinen and Juan Pablo Montoya. And lately, Fernando Alonso! I liked Da Matta too but he did a lot better in CART than F1. We have not watched IRL & CART this year as much as before... not sure why. I didn't have any big favorites there this year but in general I like all the Brazilians and dislike Paul Tracy, who always seems to wreck everybody.

  17. You've got quite a bit of wildlife walking in front of your camera. Your hubby was lucky to see the bobcat. And, that's a nice photo of it. We haven't seen one here since last April, so it's especially good to see even a pic of one.

  18. How neat. Any wildcam in my backyard would record only a disconsolate racoon, an occasional listless possum and some very over-fed waddling squirrels tapping on my window for 'more peanuts, please.'

  19. What a great idea! I should think about doing that on one of my next camping trips - if I had all the equipment, that is.

    Thanks for sharing.

  20. Wonderful! I like turkeys too- goofy birds that they are. But that bobcat- I surely would have liked to see him coming rather than going.
