That purple wall

Jenn commented on the purple wall in yesterday's garden tour post.

It was my favorite focal point of the garden.

A bold choice of color, as they say.

As you get closer, you can see that there are several other colors mixed in with the purple.

Detail view.

I couldn't decide which angle I liked best.

I wondered how many people on the tour rushed home to build purple walls in their own gardens?

  1. I like it! In fact, based on your photos, I'd have to say it's my favorite feature of the garden. I'm not so found of the statue and the urn.

  3. Dave, I've been reading a book on Greek mythology at lunch. (Just one of the many things I never studied in school.) I've been having fun looking through these pictures and trying to figure out if the statues are supposed to represent gods or not. I think this one is Apollo. I started thinking about a garden with statues of ALL the Greek gods... I'm sure one exists somewhere!

Hi MJB, thanks for visiting! If I remember correctly, at least one of the gardeners had serious doubts about that wall during the painting. But I think it turned out great. I never really thought much about statuary before, but I liked the ones they had. It would really cost a fortune if you had to buy them all new though.

  4. I love the purple wall, but I don't think that it would be something that would make me say, "I've gotta do that!" on the way home. Partly because I'm obstinate about not copying the ideas of others, and partly because it's one of those things that I like to look at in someone else's garden but can't imagine working in mine.

(Am I making sense? Darn cold...)

  5. I love it- all of it. It is really beautiful and looks like a wonderful place to sit and sip tea, read a book, or otherwise just enjoy.
