Geckers

Geckie loves her (very fancy) humid-hide. It's filled with moist sphagnum moss and helps her shed her skin.

Plus I think she just likes the getaway. She's still not eating much though.

  3. Jill, ha, maybe we should build one. :)

Nickie, they're pretty aren't they? Yep we try meal worms, crickets, and lately wax worms too. She's just not in the mood. Her eyesight is really poor I think, which doesn't help.

  7. What a lovely critter. When I lived in Sri Lanka, I had geckos in my room every day. I love how they chirp! The species you have looks similar to one that lived on the more eastern part of the island. So cute.

  8. Amazing how "blind" they get right before they shed...I bet that's when some get caught in the wild.

  10. I don't think Geckie and Jasmine have ever met! Probably a good thing.

I'm feeling like she should be chirping now too... but she's always been silent. Not a peep out of her.

She's pretty much blind all the time. I have a feeling that's why she was for sale to begin with. (We bought her at a small herp show.) You really have to take extra time when feeding her, since she can't see well at all. She can't catch crickets at all -- can't see them! So you have to just hold them up to her nose. The mealworms are a bit easier.

  13. Little hideways are great idea. I've heard that best way to catch a snake is to put a piece of pipe ending with a bag - they always get themselves trapped that way :)

I dropped by also to wish you Happy Christmas!
