At my sister's house, insects lined up for dinner in order of descending appetites.
At my sister's house, mice held a Scherenschnitte party, but it was interrupted at an early stage.
At my sister's house, pixies were unhappy with their needlework, and unthreaded all the leaves.
Isn't it fascinating? I like your last guess.
ReplyDeleteMan- the way some folks get all fancy and erudite, and throw out words like Scherenschnitte.... Critters around here have paper punch parties quite often, but I don't think they've ever thrown a Scherenschnitte party...
ReplyDeleteGreat post and pics!
I would have never imagined the pixies unthreading the leaves like that, but I think you've got that just about right. Wonderful!
ReplyDeletei must see your sister's house -- er leaves -- someday ha ha
ReplyDeleteSplendid post, from the title on down!
ReplyDeleteIsn't nature amazing? Someday you will catch them red handed and see how they really do it! Your guesses cracked me up though!
ReplyDeleteAw man, I had to look up Scherenschnitte (pronounced shair-en-shnit-teh, I learned). Love the pics -- descending order of appetite is my personal favorite.
ReplyDeleteI love new words, and Scherenschnitte is my one for today. When I did a Web search, I found that Scherenschnitte parties are all the rage among young women.
ReplyDeleteSo, thanks for a new word and for the observant pictures. I must admit, it will be a little difficult for me to work this new word into my vocabulary. Maybe in the garden I will find some little insect-punched plant and spring it on my husband. (BTW, he will probably know what it means.)
I have a guess about what really happened, but I won't spoil the fun.
ReplyDeleteOops, I didn't realize that Scherenschnitte was such an unusual word. Don't y'all watch Carol Duvall?!
ReplyDeleteBobbie, yeah those pixies are such perfectionists!
Grace, it's all Carol Duvall's fault...
Robin, I forgot to ask my sister if they ever came back to finish.
Euthymic, more posts from my sister's house coming up soon!
Dave, thanks!
Anne-Marie, I would love to know what was really doing this.
Swamp4me, got to use those dictionary muscles or they get flabby. :)
NCMW, oh all you non-crafters need to watch Carol Duvall now and then! I'll admit I've never tried much paper-cutting though.
Pablo, tell, tell! I have no idea, really.
Love your guesses! I must admit, if that's a slug, he's so organized it's scary! Maybe you have a "Charlotte's Web" kind of message board going on.
ReplyDeleteLove your holes! :)
ReplyDeleteIntriguing.
ReplyDeleteI love the things you notice, and the way you think about them. Thanks for making me smile today.
