A cow with heart.
If this were my cow, I'd name it Taurhartt, though only rednecks familiar with ancient languages would get the joke.

The cow lives on the mountain between us and Springville, but we usually only take that scenic route on Homestead Hollow (craft show) weekends.
I believe MountainMelody actually lives much closer to this cow. But if she can post photos of downtown Oneonta (see last April) I can show this!
P.S. to Fred: You should see this pic from May also. I keep forgetting to tell you about it.

A family member of the owners has commented and told me:
The cow is actually a steer, his name is Valentine (good one!), and he's a pet (not potential steak).
What a sweetheart. ThreeCollie should see this.

Now that is a cool cow! Our daughter's show cow has an itty bitty heart on her side, but nothing like that. Amazing! FC sent me over to see and I am so glad he did.

ReplyDeletePablo, sure! Maybe not what you'd call a mountain though. But cell phones don't work up there... T-Mobile doesn't, anyway. Mountain Melody had a nice pic of the view from up there but it was a while back... I will have to try to find it.
3C, cool, huh?! If you could produce cows like this on purpose, people would buy them as pets.
MM, yeah! This was taken with hubby's smaller camera, and the cow was far away, so I'm sure you can get a better one. This was just the first time the cow was ever there when I had any kind of camera on me! And I always look for it.

I wasn't going to say anything, but since you asked, the consensus here is that it is a bull....although you can't be quite positive. Cool looking anyhow.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I wondered. I even looked it up - it said that though "cattle" refers to both males and females, there is not a singular non-gender-specific term. Supposedly, "cow" is literarily correct for either sex, but I knew most of the visitors here wouldn't think so. :)

ReplyDeleteCowheart: His name is Valentine and he is a steer. He is a pet...a very sweet one at that. He is my parent's. He thinks he is a horse because that's all he's really ever been around. Sometimes he will come when you call him. If you get a chance to look, he has a lightening bolt on the other side.

ReplyDeleteAnonymous, thanks so much for telling us that! Valentine is a great name. :) I had not ever noticed his other side, but I'll look next time. We don't drive past there a lot, but every time we do, I always have my eye out for him. I suspect that a lot of other people do too.
