First frost game cam

We had a very light frost last night. The windshields were icy but the garden seems fine. Hubby had just gotten the game cam set up again, and it caught this clever bandit coming...

and going.

Raccoon (Procyon lotor).

Hubby calls this camera location the "river route," but "creek route" is probably a little more accurate. He thinks this is a beaver trail, so it will be interesting to see who else uses it. I didn't think the cam would trigger on smaller animals, but it's aimed low so that might be the key.

Great to see the game cam in operation again!

Every time I see one of your night-time pix I realize how busy and crowded the woods are, even though I don't usually see the critters.

Is that a rooster feather stuck in his teeth?

What a cute guy! Or is it a girl?

Hi! I've been lurking for a couple of days after I found your sight when I googled White fuzzy catepillar (I was trying to identify one too) Anyway, I hope you don't mind that I added you to my blogroll. You have a very interesting site here...I'll probably link it to my photoblog as well. Nice to meet you,
Stacie

The game cam rocks! Raccoons...not so much. Little buggers get into everything.

I do so love the game cam. I'm thinking of getting one and training it on the chicken yard and the compost pile. There seems to be a great deal of activity out there recently. Where did you get that camera again?

Ohhh, glad I checked back in to see what was up. Enjoyed the earlier goes with the game cam.

i just gave a raccoon a concussion this week. well, probably. s/he popped up out of the dumpster and squeaked at me while i was throwing away my trash on a very dark and blustery night. i gave that girl scream and slammed the lid down. i was back in the apartment before the shape of his ears registered. poor thing. i feel bad for its headache.

We're having more warm weather so possibly no game cam for a little while. We'll probably go back to the check once a week schedule.

H&B, some people think they all are!

OW, thanks, hope we'll get some good ones this year.

Pablo, yep if the trigger were faster on this thing I think we'd see even more.

FC, probably!

Sabine, I'm not sure you can tell the difference. Well, they probably can.

Hi Stacie, thanks! It's a tossup as to whether white or yellow fuzzy caterpillars bring more visitors here. ;)

RP, out in the woods where they belong... not too bothersome.

Meredith, we got it from bossbuck.com. It's a Cuddeback.

PG, thanks! It's amazing what all is out there.

Erika, I have such a hilarious mental image of that!

Rachel, thanks. I do miss Stewpot. You should see the tyrant that "Big Red" is becoming.

Frost you say, here in Big Sky Country, we've already been treated to 5 inches of snow, though it hasnt kept our local critters at bay. We still have a gorgeous herd of white tail parading thru here.

Mom said it had been getting cold down there. Brrrr. It's pretty danged cold up here now. I am NOT looking forward to winter again.

WOW! Is that a fence he's crawling under? or just rolling for a good time?

The raccoons must be really busy right now. On my drive into town yesterday, I came across 5 dead ones in a 3 mile stretch. (kind of unusual)

Wow, I love these! We haven't got raccoons in the UK. They remind me of funny-shaped badgers! How big are they??
We have a badger sett on the edge of our farm. As soon as the lights go off, they come barrelling through the hedgerows! The young ones are so gangly and brave! They will often come quite close. I have never been quick enough to get a decent picture of one though.
I love your game cam idea!
