Must be spring

One blissed-out dirty dog.

After an early morning of harassing wildlife in the swamp, Jasmine took a nap in the backyard shade.

My husband, getting into the Blogger spirit of things, took this picture while I was in the shower. Jasmine lies like this when she wants her belly rubbed, but we'd never seen her sleep like that.

  2. Makes me want to scratch her belly. Oddly enough my Jazz was lying in the sun like that yesterday and I tried to get a picture of her, but she jumped up and ran after a deer or turkey or something. What a good dog.

  3. Doesn't that just epitomize bliss?

  5. She's a sweetie, isn't she?! She is pretty easily amused too. "Gimme that stick" and "gimme that ball" are her two favorite games.

Shannon - just as long as there aren't muddy dogs lounging IN your pool, it's probably ok, LOL.

  6. This week, I really really wish I was living a dog's life. I would lie around like that pretty much all day...

  10. MM, you'd have to get up to chase a rabbit every now and then. So it's practically the same, right?

Maktaaq, she does act rather sloth-like at times, especially in the summer. She gets so hot under all that fur. Hubby says we might try to trim her this year.

    Amy, you are probably right!

Bamacrat, she's almost that big. Oh and the grass... well it's actually mostly weeds. :) It's almost time to get out and mow the weeds now.

    Thanks H&B and everybody else.

We had a Pyr when we lived in Atlanta, and people constantly asked us why we didn't shave him in the summer. But all the Pyr literature says NEVER shave a Pyr. Nothing ever explained fully why not. As I recall, some said the uncovered skin would be damaged by the sun; some said the white fur actually reflects heat and keeps them cooler - like those long white robes Arabs wear in the desert, I guess.
But maybe if you could just trim it shorter, rather than shaving close to the skin, it couldn't hurt. I want to see a picture of that, if you do it.

  12. Hi Lin,

Yep I've read that too, about not shaving a Pyr. (I think sunburn is the main problem.) But when we ran into Logan and his owner said she'd trimmed his hair, we thought we might give that a try.

She is SO hot in the summer. And right now I'm having a bad time trying to get all the mats out of her fur. She is shedding like crazy and it won't stop raining... so, matted dog.
