As far as snow, north central Alabama has been skunked for several years in a row. A flurry here or there maybe, but nothing much to speak of for about 6 years.
Lately the forecasters have cruelly been getting my hopes up... Hopes that then got drowned, by all the rain that we got instead of snow:
Then late on Saturday...
Snow!
More snow!
Even more snow!
Snow on hubby's back. Unfortunately this was about the only thing that it stuck to. It was in the low 40s (5 - 7 C), so the flakes all melted soon after hitting the ground.
Snow on white dog... Jasmine did not think much of the snow at all.
She barked at it. Ran around and snapped at it!
And was generally very, very worried about it.
She was definitely glad that it stopped after about 15 minutes. Even though I wasn't.
Skunked again!
We only got about 3" but Jaxsun had a blast playing in it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the snow. I am still waiting... I just knew we would get some this year. It will probably wait until I am camping at the race track. ;)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it just the most beautiful thing when the snow is falling? The quiet of it, and how it leaves everything perfectly white and still-- nothing else is quite like it. Even to see it fall without sticking is a delight.
ReplyDelete...well, i guess a little is better than none. that jasmine is sure a beauty!
ReplyDeleteWe got enough over our way to just barely cover the ground; and it stayed until early Sunday morning. Maybe we're a little colder over here on this hill? Grendal (my cat) went out in it and ran around pouncing on the big flakes for a while but when it started coming down pretty hard she wimped out quick and ran back inside! You know, seems like when i was a kid we used to get a decent snowfall at least once a year. Maybe? Am I just imagining that?
ReplyDeleteI can send you a whole bunch if you want. Care for some in June?
ReplyDeleteJasmine is so beautiful! She looks like a big snowflake herself.
ReplyDeleteDaughter Mary who just moved to Huntsville claims that the snow is her doing.
ReplyDeleteShe's been concentrating on bringing snow ever since she got there. She was in Houston before and she's a little tired of evergreen lawns.
With that nice heavy coat of hers, I would think Jasmine would *love* have snow to play in!
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for a nice big snowstorm where we live... we did get a little last weekend.
Fearless Jasmine obviously protected all of north Alabama from a complete white out. Good dog!
ReplyDeleteWe have a large cat who dances at snowflakes- and I dare say he's got more to tango with than Jasmine. I like this post and the photos that go along with it!
ReplyDeleteJasmine was probably thinking that it was bird poo..
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this post.
ReplyDeleteI don't like snow.
We have a lot of snow.
I don't want it.
I could change with you.
Have a great Happy Valentine day with a lot of Love, not snow ;-)
Nio all the schools would close if we got 3"!
ReplyDeleteKF, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
RD you are right, it's nice just to see it falling. And this was my favorite kind, all big and fluffy.
YW, yeah it's been a while since we've seen it at all.
WG, they got more on Pine Mtn too. You are right, it used to snow once or twice a year, at least an inch or two.
Clare, send it right on down! I'll swap you for some December sunshine.
Sabine, thanks, she's the stinkiest snowflake around!
Bill now she just needs to concentrate on sending it a little further south. :)
TH I'm sure she'd have loved it in the end. She does love the cold weather... it winds her up like nothing else.
FC you may be right! I believe she thought so anyway.
Thanks Vicki, I'll be looking for pics of the snowflake cat dance... :)
H&B it could be. She'd have eaten a lot more though. Ick.
Mrs L, I guess it goes to prove that you always want what you don't have!
Heh! We've hardly had any snow this winter...which is unusual. It's gotten very cold again today, though and it is beginning to cloud up...so who knows?
ReplyDeleteMy Jazz loves the snow and will stay outside all day galloping around in it if I let her.
