Let me know if I get in your way

I don't think cats understand reading.

  1. Oh, they understand perfectly! As far as they're concerned - if you have time to read then you have time to pay attention to them!!! In fact, being in a seated position is an invitation. No matter which seat in the house you're on!

    Love that PIC!

I think they are taking pity on you because they think you are so bored that you are staring at a piece of paper.

  4. They have a similar reaction to laptop computers. It's nearly impossible to watch a movie in bed on the laptop. Mine discovers functions I never knew the computer had.

    Beautiful tortie.

  6. Awwww... our three kitties are also similarly mystified by this odd human behavior, and are happy to help add excitement to our apparent boredom. Fun pic!

Adorable! My cats have the same problem with the computer, and they don't seem to understand why they can't walk across the keyboard!

obviously, your cat has been taking lessons from mine. Who is currently sitting on my hands while I try to type this.

    It's a conspiracy, I tell you...

  14. Thanks everybody. I love that quote, anonymous.

I usually imagine that my "anonymous" commenters are famous people who don't want to be recognized... political figures, movie stars, industry tycoons, royalty... all of whom read my blog every day of course.

  15. That is a great picture. Why is it cats always have to lay in the midst of things. Attention mongers, probably.

  16. great picture. the peanut does that, but she's not so well behaved about it. success comes when she manages to remove the book from my reach and she's wrapped around my face like a blanket.

    maybe it IS a conspiracy!

How is your aching back? If it's keeping you from posting more frequently then let me tell you, it's killing me!

One of my cats interprets my sitting down to read, watch TV, or use my laptop as an invitation to occupy my lap and demand petting. The other cat interprets my lying down as a reason to start rubbing her face against my head.

    Cats... :-)

I've often wondered if Budgies watch us reading the paper and wonder what we are doing staring at the carpet

  21. I could never understand why when we had cats, they'd always find our heads and chests the most comfortable place to sleep. Pretty kitty cat.

  22. What a sweet kitty photo! I used to have a kitty that like crawling onto whatever I was reading. Priceless bit of kitty affection!
