I'm still getting used to the new camera. There are a lot of buttons.
And the print in the owner's manual is very small.
Last night when I was trying to take a picture of the peppers Hubby had strung up, the camera refused to operate, and kept flashing an odd symbol at me.
About the time I started suspecting that the symbol meant, "You're an idiot," I realized that it was actually telling me, "You took the memory card out of the camera and forgot to put it back." Which I suppose amounts to the same thing, really.
So, which picture of Dusty looks best on your computer? Or can you tell a difference? Does it matter? The first one is straight out of the camera and the other two are lightened a bit.

Been there, done that. Makes a refreshing change from shooting with the lens cap on.
They all look great! What a cute kitty. The first picture is definitely darker but you can still see it easily. The second two pop out more and are easier to see on my monitor.
The final photo shows the most detail, since it is the lightest, but I would go for somewhere between 2 and 3 and 2 is still slightly dark in some of the finer details.
The camera will be a learning experience for sure. I am STILL discovering little tidbits about my camera, and I have had this particular body for almost 2 years.
2 and 3 are pretty close. The first one is a little dark.
I agree with Chris -- something between photo 2 & 3 would be ideal. What a lovely cat, and a fun website. You have great photos.

I prefer number one. The colors are more vivid. And what a pretty tortie in all three!
I like #3. Do we win prizes? LOL! :)
The third one looks the best from here. The instruction book that came with my camera is almost as thick as the camera itself. Doubt I'll ever use all the little bells and whistles. Once I was able to take a decent pic, transfer it into the computer and know how to charge the battery, I declared victory.
I love your little cat of many colors.
I prefer somewhere between 1 and 2. Number 3 looks washed-out to me.

I think somewhere between 2 and 3 is best. Number 1 is a bit dark on my screen.
In the duck pic below, I thought it was a bit dark.
I think 1 is a bit dark and 3 is too light. There is plenty of detail and contrast in 2. But anything you do is wonderful. I thought you knew that!
I wonder how much monitors make a difference--or personal preference. I think #3 is the best, but maybe I prefer pictures lighter. I like the fact that you have the background out of focus. I notice content more than technical. I like your kitty!
Thanks everybody! I think I will end up lightening them just slightly, then. I appreciate all the input.
R - you may be able to save yourself the hassle if the camera will allow you to "push" the exposures. My Nikon has a setting where you can make the camera "overexpose" the image by as much a 4 stops (it also goes in the opposite direction).

BTW - on my crappy blue-hued work monitor, #3 looks the best. We'll have to see how they look on my home monitor which is much more accurate.
