I feel famous now

The Nature Blog Network interviewed me (here)!

That first link takes you to their list of nature blogs, which numbers almost 700 now. I'd encourage you to sign up, if your blog's a fit.

I'm hoping that in the future they'll consider listing by geographic area too. I'd love to be able to click over to, say, a "Canada" tab, then select by province. Because I frequently find myself wondering, "What's shaking in Nova Scotia right now?"

Thanks so much to Wren for interviewing me, and to Pablo for suggesting me.

School for Creative Procrastination

Click for easier title viewing.

This was fun. I didn't have time to get artsy1 with it, but since I'm a cum laude graduate of the School for Creative Procrastination, I made an entry for LibraryThing's March bookpile contest2.

I wrote a little blurb to go with it:
I find myself planning one million and one projects every spring.

I dream of getting into peak condition, staying on a diet, and cooking healthier. I can't wait to plant the garden, finish the spring cleaning, and get that chick order in. I'm determined to read educational blogs, brush up on my Shakespeare, and learn Italian. I want to key out every wildflower. Identify each bird, snake, and butterfly that flaps, slithers, or flitters by. Plus of course I plan to have plenty of spare time to lie in the hammock and relax with seasonal poetry, a garden memoir, an herbal mystery, and a flower confidential.

Hope SPRINGS eternal.

(Yes, it's corny! But I couldn't resist the need to explain to the imaginary critic over my shoulder why I had Conversational Italian and so forth in a pile of spring books.)

I didn't actually get a chick order in though. We decided that since we actually are on a diet3 and not eating many eggs, that we probably didn't need 25 more chickens (the minimum order). I thought we might just pick up a few chicks4 at the co-op, but they didn't get any this year.

-----

Part of the fun was putting in books that you might recognize. Like Susan's or Amy's or a few others that May have been mentioned here before.

-----
1I believe the technical term is artsy fartsy.

2You can too, but hurry because the deadline is tomorrow noon.

3I've lost 15 pounds. Woohoo! Only (mumble, mumble) left to go.

4Heh.

-----

Edited to add:
Woohoo! I won 3rd runner up! Thanks Susan for pointing me to LT.

Why I'm busy

My soap's in the Father's Day gift guide.

Of the June issue of Better Homes and Gardens magazine!

Holy cow. I'm hoping that business will be good, but not so good that I can't handle it. It's coming out this week... wish me luck!

More obnoxious bragging

Might as well get all the rest of the obnoxious bragging out of the way in one day.

Florida Cracker told me back in December, "Hey, I was in Borders today and there was a book, 'Blogosphere, Best of Blogs'. You were in there!"

I thought he'd been eating bad mushrooms. The book wasn't due to be published until February! But then, because I'm vain and nosy, I researched and found that the book had been available as a special to Borders in November. I pre-ordered from Amazon (we don't have Borders here) and just got the book. I was in there! (Sorry for casting aspersions on your sanity, FC.)

I noticed that some of my blog friends are in it too. (If I were writing the book you'd all have been in there!) There's also a blog to go with the book, of course. (Plus extra material.)

I'm in the "Garden Diaries" section. So, that's at least twice now that I've been able to convince people that I know something about gardening...

when really, I don't!

I erased the last names to protect the innocent. I noticed that there's no date, but it's hot off the presses... I just graduated.

I still have almost everything to learn about gardening. But I highly recommend the Master Gardener course. It's one of the most fun things I've ever done. Plus, it's a fantastic way to make friends in a new place.

OK, no more obnoxious bragging for a while, I promise.

This really made my day

In the interest of full disclosure, I should probably tell you that this envelope was sent to me by a cousin. (She added "Incredibly Good Smelling" to the actual business name.)

But still. It really did make my day!

My cup runneth over

Our Amazing Kitchen Soap is featured in the November issue of Cooking Light magazine!

It's very exciting. My sister-in-law was nice enough to send me this scan, since I still haven't received my copy yet. (My mail lady is possibly holding it hostage.)

I knew it was coming, so made plenty of extra Kitchen soap. What I didn't anticipate was that so many people would be ordering 10 or 12 at a time.

So with that and two big craft shows coming up, I may be too busy for a lot of blog writing or reading in the upcoming weeks.

But if I'm missing from here, just imagine me as that figure on the left of the page, with a big smile of gratitude on my face.

Oh yeah, I can also report that besides garlic and onions, the Amazing Kitchen Soap works well on other smelly odors you might get on your hands... fish... bleach... smoke... that odor you absorb when trying to wrangle smelly dogs who've been rolling around in things you'd rather not think about...

Toot, toot

That's my own horn you hear blowing...

Dana, who writes for the online southern journal called Dew on the Kudzu, interviewed me about our soaps. I feel like such a celebrity!

I've never met Dana before, but she grew up not far from here. She's now living in Chicago, which is why her blog is called Southern Gal Goes North.

Here's a link to the interview if you want to read it.

No autographs, please...
