In summer when the days were long

Fairy dreams of green-wood fern

Feather from the wing of time

Summer's nimble mansion

Berries harsh and crude

My stem was fair, my bud was green

Bloom I strove to raise

Hidden secret of eternal bliss

I love it in the summer when the days are long and there's lots of time to explore things, sit in the sun, drink iced tea and lemonade!!!

Enjoyed the pictures!

I hope that you have a great weekend! Be back on Tuesday!

lovely ferns. Mine always get crispy on the edges. What is the name of that dainty little sunflower looking plant?

Damn, you really know the old chestnuts, don't you? My Pop-pop - a great gardener - used to quote stuff like that.

Nice prose...thank you for making summer feel leisurely, even if mine isn't.

Thanks Ava, have a nice weekend.

Meredith, I think it's just called Brown Eyed Susan. There are a ton of them here at the edges this time of year. I think it's a Rudbeckia but I'm not sure which one.

Lime, yeah if only it wasn't for the 100+ heat.

SG, thanks!

Dave, I must admit that I just finished listening to a book on tape about "Great Poems". :) Wish I really did know them by heart. At one point I thought about arranging things so that the first words combined for a haiku at the end. Then I thought about an arrangement where the lines made a new poem when read together... But I had to be at a meeting by 10:00 so I just left it as a thought.

Lisa, mine's not either, it just looks that way on paper.
