If your blog has one of those "Comment as" buttons just after the comment space, don't expect any comments from me.
My comments on your blog disappear into never-never land, no matter which type of ID I choose. Even "Name/URL". Even "Anonymous". I have never been able to comment on any blog that uses this type of comment form. (Blogs with "Choose an identity" work fine.)
I can't figure it out. There are plenty of other comments, so those people didn't have problems. It's just me. Only, it's not just me - I've found a few other folks wandering the internet in search of a solution to this problem.
But I haven't found a solution. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

I don't have any solutions, but I have the same problem. I know some blogs that just recently switched over to this system, and they must think I scorn them now because I don't/can't leave comments anymore.
(As for my blog, there was a one-day glitch that prevented folks from leaving comments, but that's fixed now.)
I lost commenting when I switched to the other blogger comment option so I came back to the one you are using.
I periodically have problems posting comments around the neighborhood- that coupled with a total inability to remember various combinations of passwords and sign-ins can be very aggravating.
I'm very happy that you can comment at my place- thanks!
'Embedded Comments' is what Blogger calls it. They admit there is a problem. The fix is for everybody to use the popup comment feature that you and I use.
I have another question. If I visit a blog and ask a question or pay a compliment that begs an reply, am I expected to remember to return to read further comments, or is the burden on the recipient to in turn visit my blog to comment?
Hey girl I have the same problem. I feel pretty iliterate when it comes to these things. I try but then I just give up. I hate not leaving a comment but then oh well.
It's frustrating to write a comment and have it disappear, too. Lots of bloggers have a hard time with the new embedded comment form...I like this style and use it at my blog. But have you noticed that word verification words are incredibly long these days! Gail
Hey I had the same problem, well not exactly the same, my blog used the embbeded coments form and some friends told me they coulnd't leave a comment, so I googled it and found your blog! I think I'll switch to the pop-up window and see if that fix the problem
Hmm, maybe it is a firewall problem... I use Comodo. I do have pop-ups blocked, but I don't have a problem with the actual pop-up kind of comments, only these "embedded" ones.
My comments are set to the type that takes you to another page instead of popping up. Some people don't like that, but I think the comments show up in searches better that way. I don't always know the answers to things, but sometimes the commenters do! Possibly this is different now, but I don't want to change and risk losing all the old comments - I think that happens a lot.
NellJean, that is a good question! I usually answer on my blog (when my brain is functioning), but some people visit the other blog to answer. A few even do both, but that's not common. I think most people answer on their own blogs, because if one person had that question, it's likely that others do too.
Becca, yours is one that I'm unable to comment on!
Gail, they *are* sometimes longer, but at least they resemble real words more and are easier to type!
Thanks everybody, I'm glad it's not just me that has this problem. I couldn't find anything about it in the Blogger help area.
Hi there -- I found your blog as I was looking for information about potato vines. I'm in Baldwin County. Your blog is really interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Deirdre!
An interesting post - I was waiting to see what others said.
I haven't run into the specific new commenting problems as you describe. I have had minor troubles with blogger's usual commenting options - I almost always have to publish my comment twice.
What you're describing sounds like something new. Two possibilities - one, the implementation is so screwed that you are experiencing something everyone is. From your comments that seems to be a good possibility.
Two, software additions that your browser software can't handle. And so as awful as it may seem, at least consider:
Try another browser.
Yeah, I know, that's a real annoyance after you've established all your preferences, email download settings, email files, and bookmarks. I still use mozilla, more than a couple of years after it went defunct. And I find increasingly that it crashes with more and more websites. I will have to make a change eventually, but the infrastructure I've set up is so extensive that I keep putting it off.
Just FYI - your captcha word verification is ireedewi. Or is it ireeclewi? Impossible to tell. I'll let you know in a moment.
It failed. Try again. (Fortunately I copied the comment.)
Wayne, well I didn't think it was the browser, since I thought I had up-to-date Firefox.
But you were right. I tried IE and it worked. I don't really want to switch back to IE though, and don't want to have to switch browsers all the time either...
Well now I wonder if anyone else is having the have-to-do-it-twice problems here. Maybe I should get rid of the capture word and see if I get an explostion of spam...
If anyone else reading this has problem like Wayne's posting a comment here, please let me know!
Karen - interesting that your up to date version of firefox fails. I've found a number of websites and applications that must be used with Internet Explorer - I had thought it might be because I was using a defunct and unsupported mozilla browser.
Now it appears that at least some of those are specifically written to be used only with IE. I actually do go to IE if absolutely necessary but I don't like it one bit. I thought that if I finally switched to firefox I'd never have another problem. Man, is that a sock rotter or what?
BTW - I suggest keeping your catcha, especially if it works. You don't want an onslaught of comment spam. I don't lose comments by having to put in the word verification a second time. It's a combo of the word presentation and the order that things are done in. Don't know about anyone else.
Interesting discoveries - thanks for bring it up.
Wayne, I forgot to mention that I'm using Vista 64. That might have something to do with it as well...
I have exactly the same problems and found you by Googling. I use IE as my browser and whatever I do, and whichever sign-in option I use I can't post. Simply nothing happens and at the bottom of the page I get an Error on Page message. So frustrating but I'm happy to discover I'm not the only one!
I was just having problems leaving comments and a quick Google search led me to your blog. My problem was with ALL Blogger blogs, and that was quickly solved by clearing my cache (after I found a way to do that ;)
Then after finally being able to leave comments on two blogs, I ran into a blog that had the embedded comments. I couldn't leave a comment, just like you said!! So I came back here to let you know -- I switched browsers from Firefox to IE and I was able to comment no problem. I am not using Vista, I am using XP. I think it is a Firefox thing. Hope it helps to know that others have the same problem and that you posting about this is helping others too!
OK. That's what I wrote BEFORE your comment tool wouldn't let me post the comment! Argh! This is frustrating! So I am back on IE to give it another go.
Yes there is a problem with Firefox ... pfff Same, I can comment using Opera and IE and not Firefox ... pfff
I thought it was Firefox too but then had the same trouble with IE. Only on some blogs-and they seem to be set up the same as those the comments go through on.
One I have trouble with I had her email and just email her cumulative comments every so often, but I want a fix! :(
I've just come across this post by googling the same problem, relieved to also know it's not just me - this has only been happening to me over the past month or two, noticing the May date on your original post I'm wondering if it's something that has just started with Blogger - some people are managing to comment on my blog which has the embedded comment form but I can't answer them - off now to do some more experimenting, thanks
Hi Rurality,
I wish I could change my html to get my Blogger in line with most of the others... Problem is it shows nowhere to comment... no Comment, no number of comments... nothing.
A post by darraghdoyle.blogspot.com tipped me that Comments will open if the title is clicked. The other method to open Comments is to click the little date at the end of the post.
I alert readers with every post. It's like sharing a top secret!
