Waterlog sunset

On New Year's Eve there was a beautiful foggy sunset.

This was the same night of the moon corona.

The later it grew, the cooler and foggier it became.

I don't remember ever seeing anything quite like it before.

-----

I once lived on the tenth floor of a dormitory that overlooked a cemetery. I thought it was a terrible view and a poor trick to play on freshmen, until I noticed the sun go down. The view to the horizon was nearly completely flat, so every sunset was a treat.

I once stayed at my college roommate's friend's dorm over at Georgetown University. Her room overlooked the old cemetary there as well and was an interesting sight to witness.

I love the soft focus of the fog and the hint of what might lie just out of sight.

JC, mine was at the U of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Maybe land is cheap near cemeteries...? I keep wishing I could find a blog from some kid at the same dorm today, but no luck so far.

Laura, thanks. As usual I couldn't capture the depth I wanted, but at least the colors were nice!

Beautiful sunset photos! I love a great sunrise and sunset - there's nothing quite like them!

Avocados are GREAT in soaps. Sorry to have brought you the news of the weather that put a freeze on the 'cados but won't put a freeze on the subsequent prices.

A day without guacamole (for me) is like a day without sunshine.

I had a heck of a time dealing with price increases for Montmorency cherries from Door County a few years ago...and don't even remind me of the pricing of vanilla.

Well, at least in the case of Georgetown, I believe that the university was actually once a church, or something thereabouts, and the cemetary was part of those grounds. The university sprung up from the educational facilities already present and kept growing from there. Given its history, the architecture there was really something to marvel at.

Gorgeous! I love a good sunset like that - the fog sure made it spectacular.

I am nodding because I know exactly which dorn you were in! And yes, great view in the evening. And not a bad place to be on your average fall football weekend, either! :)

NW I wish we got the good sunsets too but they are hidden behind a nearby hill.

Jill I ordered 35 pounds so I wouldn't run out for a while!

JC sadly my old dorm looked more like a 70s hotel.

Thanks Karmyn, Laurie, Lene, & KF!

Kathy I would love to go back there some day and see if it's as I remember it.

Bobby I have read about it many times but it always seems to leak out of my brain. Did you see me reading your blog earlier or do you have ESP? ;)

By the way I forgot to mention that the title links to a nice song on YouTube (Waterloo Sunset). Check it out.
