Spring, sprung.

It's bloodroot time!

Tempus est Sanguinaria canadensis.

Babelfish doesn't work for ancient languages, so that is possibly not correct latin.

But anyway, bloodroots are up!

I love bloodroot, but I can't say I ever see it in New Hampshire. For me, it's purely an Ohio thing.

Wow...I don't know that I have ever seen that. It is spectacular! I have to get some!

Waiting, waiting, waiting, until the end of this month at least or maybe until the late middle of April depending.

Beautiful pictures. Yay for 80 degree weather...though we're back in the 50's today. :)

Blossom, it's one of my favorites!

Lorianne, that's a surprise! You have all those lovely ladyslippers though, if I am remembering correctly.

FC, thanks!

DP, it's one of the first flowers up here in the spring.

OW, then I'll be sighing over yours and wishing it weren't so dang hot here. :)

Lythrum, yep, I was definitely sweating on this outing. Some in-between weather would be nice!

Breathtakingly beautiful. And your camera is which one? And, pray, why call these exquisite white and yellow-polka-dot-eyed spring flowers bloodroot? I am looking for the color of blood... where is it? So many questions, so little time to answer. So thank you.

Hi Tamar, the camera for this pic was the Nikon D200, though sometimes I use my husband's camera, which is a Sony Cybershot. Supposedly, the color of blood is in the root when you break it. But I've never looked, to tell you the truth!

Thanks for replies! So your amazing results are thanks to your talented eye and spirit and... a people's camera, that is, nothing fancy. You inspire me to swap out my silly Panasonic.

Ah, the color of blood in the root... makes sense (bloodroot... hadn't figured that out earlier)... Now I have to see the stuff and will ask around where I can see the flower while I am in Israel.

That may be the closest I ever get to one -- but I think that should go on my to do list.
Visit in the springtime to see the bloodroot bloom

Now I need to check and see how my bloodroot is doing!
