Rocks in their hearts

Dave's post Sunday included a video in which a woman spoke of some fused trees, saying, "even the babies have rocks in their... parts".

I originally thought she'd said, "rocks in their hearts"...

... which I actually like better.

It reminded me of these photos my husband took not long ago.

I wonder what the other trees make of this.

Do they whisper behind his back?

I'd love him better if he didn't have rocks in his heart.

  1. Rocks in their hearts is definitely poetically pleasing. Very cool photos of those trees and their rocky companions.

  2. Your misinterpretion of the words made me chuckle. Isn't it funny when you misunderstand words to phrases or lyrics? For years my daughter thought a kitchen "island" was an "Ivan." She was an adult when she found out the difference and was very embarassed.
    I enjoyed visiting your blog.

If I was this tree and they were whispering behind my back . . . I would "bark" back at them! Great post my friend!

  8. There is no telling what treasure like buried inside tree trunks. I've seen them grow around wooden fences with out ever breaking a board. It amazes me...

It looks as though the tree was the victim of a kung fu movie. Poor thing. And yet, it thrives! I like it. The devil billboard is pretty cool too. :-)

  10. There's actually a word for it! Mondegreen.

I'll forever think of a kitchen island as an Ivan now. :)

  11. I think the tree is engulfing the rocks on purpose-he needs minerals! Funny about wrong lyrics, I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought Creedence Clearwater Revival's song "Bad Moon on the Rise" said "bathroom on the right"...sheesh. :)
