Fore! (A Meme)

Lorianne of Hoarded Ordinaries passed this meme along to me. I'll try to be less smarty-pants than normal with the answers.

Four jobs you've had in your life:
newspaper copygirl
cocktail waitress
traffic counter
electrical engineer

Four movies you could watch over and over:
Little Big Man (my favorite movie)
Paper Moon
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
Bladerunner

Four places you've lived:
Alabama (small town)
the north of France
Alabama (big city)
Alabama (rural)
I must like it here.

Four TV shows you love to watch:
Southpark (not so much last year though)
Rome (a lot better than I thought it would be)
The Daily Show (I have a secret crush on Jon Stewart)
American Idol (starts back soon)
House (I still keep expecting Stephen Fry to walk in)
Monk (Just wish they'd make more than 2 or 3 a year)
Yes I know that's six.

Four places you've been on vacation:
I think my favorite four places have been:
Dauphin Island
Nova Scotia
Texas
El Salvador

Four websites you visit daily:
Bloglines
I think that's the only daily one.

Four of your favorite foods:
Nothing will ever attain the perfection of the broiled crab claws at The Sea House, a Dauphin Island restaurant that is no more.
The BBQ at the hole in the wall (downtown Bham - also now closed).
The perfect Philly Cheesesteak sandwich... I'm still looking for that.
Anything chocolate

Four places you'd rather be:
Nowhere.

Four albums you can't live without:
If all my CDs suddenly disappeared, the four artists I'd be apt to replace most quickly would be REM, John Wesley Harding, The Lilac Time (and/or Stephen Duffy) and Son Volt (and/or Jay Farrar). Or maybe Blue Rodeo.

Four to pass this meme along to:
I'd love to see answers from:
Floridacracker
Thingfish23
Hick
Ontario Wanderer

But don't play if you don't want to.

I'll play, but it will probably be midweek before I have time to think again.
I love Blade Runner too.

I love Paper Moon! And I chuckled at the four places you've lived: Various Places, Alabama...and FRANCE. It sounded like that Sesame Street song, "One of these things is not like the others; one of these things is not the same..." :-)

Thanks for playing!!

Great to find another person who's heard of AND likes Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead!

Newspaper copygirl? And you gave that up to be a traffic counter?

I've only been to Alabama once and that was after a Hurricane hit, so I didn't really get a good idea of what Alabama is all about. I would love to go back, but until then, I visit vicariously through your blog.

I'll play, but probably not till later this week. It's gonna take some time to rip off other bloggers answers...maybe I'll wait until Floridacracker posts his...maybe not.

I forgot to say, anyone else who wants to play is of course welcome!

There are really a ton more movies that I could list there in the "watch over and over again" category.

Yep Hick, hard to believe huh?! The traffic counting job was actually only a temporary one-day thing, but as I recall it paid pretty good. One of the teachers at the engineering school was good about getting the students little side jobs like that. Another time I got the plum job of measuring & drawing out floor plans for an existing building... it was a large old house that someone wanted to turn into an art gallery. I did that with the guy who I'm now married to!

Going along with my "blogs are like penpals" theme, I have just realized that memes are like slams, and blogrolls are like FBs. If you understand that, you probably had lots of penpals too.

Really enjoyed your list, rurality. My mother's side of the family is in Alabama and Georgia. I've only spent a week per summer as a kid there, but it still holds my heart. Would love to make it to Nova Scotia one day.

Oh, and on the potatoes, if you'll drop me an email at aleaningbirch@yahoo.com so that I have your address(which I also mentioned on my blog), I would be happy to send you the recipe. :)
