We've been thrilled lately with plentiful downpours, cloudbursts, thunderstorms, showers, drizzles, sprinkles, and mists. Over six inches of very welcome precipitation over the past two weeks or so. (I'm sure that only seems like more rain than we've had in the last two years.)
Our Muscovy ducks don't much like the water. You'll find one in a pond only if you've thrown him in there yourself. They don't particularly like the rain either — they'll retreat to the porch to stand under the eaves to stay dry.
But the recent rain has often been at night, when the Muscovies like to be in the (uncovered) pen.
Boy, are those ducks clean!

I guess they never heard the expression "...like a duck to water."
I never imagined any kind of duck wouldn't like water! He sure looks clean and bright white, though.
Hmm, wonder if they think to themselves, "There has to be a better way"?
A duck not liking water is like a hog not liking a mud wallow. Like a bird not liking to fly, like a fish not wanting to swim. Ok, you get the picture.
That is one cute duck.
Ducks that don't like water? Now I've heard of everything! ;0)
RA, I keep telling them, but they just don't seem to understand!
Lisa, yeah it's odd. Other people's Muscovies aren't always like this, from what I hear.
TCE, I doubt a thought that long would fit in their heads!
Fletch, you would think, huh?
Meg, yeah the females are very nice. The males, not so much.
MBT, yep, I think our ducks are all insane!
Interesting! Our Muscovies love the water. Too much, sometimes, because they're out there in what bit of the creek isn't iced over yet.
