Heehee. Poor kitty. My cat Roy tangled with a bee once and his paw swelled up like a ping-pong paddle. We called him 'paddle-paw' for weeks. He didn't appreciate the humor.

We had a cat whose face swelled up like a balloon, for reasons we never figured out. It was quite a site. She already hated us from the extremely funny Elizabethan collar she'd had to wear in her kittenhood, so our further ridicule didn't further alienate her.

On the other hand there were the two cat bodies we found, totally intact, that we could only figure had been snake-bitten or had been allergic to bees. Sigh. That's why we bring the cats in at night. Wind the cat, put out the clock.

Ouch!

I had to laugh at the title. We have a cat named Puffball, and when we discovered he was a father (right before he was neutered), of course his name was Puff Daddy.

One of my cats came with the name "Puff-a-lump" when he was given to us. What kind of cat name is that? We changed his name to Moses and he appears to be much happier.

Poor Georgie. Lesson learned? Probably not.

One of our cats, Harley, has an allergic reaction to something every summer. His nose becomes all red with small scabby like bumps. His ears get it too. We've never been able to figure out what it is that he's reacting to. But it goes away in the fall and comes back in the spring.

My girlfriend has a couple of cats, one of which is named Pumpkin. This name happens to be very appropriate given Pumpkin's rather, erm, expansive dimensions. In addition to her impressive girth Pumpkin has a kidney disease and requires fluids to be inserted below her skin every other day. After her treatment her mass has increased by a amount noticeable as she waddles away, happy that it's over with.

Our Bad Little Dog tried to tangle with a bee yesterday! She was snapping at it and actually knocked it off of a flower and down to the ground. She was moving in for the kill when my wife saw her and chased her away from it. I know that on several occassions she has yelped, and then barked at wasps (I assume that they stung her), but this was her first encounter with a bee as far as I know. I have a post on our blog about the Bad Little Dog, who likes to hunt lizards and small rough earth snakes. We have talked several times about her killing the snakes, and my wife has worried that she will try to catch a poisonous one and it will kill her. But we can't watch her 24 hours a day!
