Funky

I spied a funky rock down the slope.

I used max zoom. But the small screen on the camera doesn't show much. Or maybe it's my eyes that don't see much. Anyway, when I loaded the picture onto the computer, I was surprised to see these... seeds.

Or something resembling seeds. I have no idea.

Now I wish I'd climbed down instead of using the zoom. I have a little phobia about steep slopes. But had I known it was a green strawberry rock I might have braved it.

If you have any idea what causes this, please let me know.

Well obviously it is the petrified fruit of the prehistoric Giant Strawberry plant Fragaria giganticus, said to be as sweet as wild strawberry.

Off topic, any early favourites for A.I. yet? Taylor Hicks has my early vote.

Heh.

Well as much as I want to like him, being from Alabama after all, I have to say that Taylor is not really my cup of tea. I hope he does well, but I prefer Chris (the bald guy). In the girls - oh I don't know any of their names because I've missed 2 of the "girls" shows. But I like the heavy black girl and the pretty dark-haired white girl (the one who did the Aretha song). The perky blond girl is also interesting although I don't think she can sing as well as the others.

Are you sorry you asked now? :)

They are predicting bad storms for tonight so I may not be able to see the winners OR see Bo sing. :(

The things you find around your place are fascinating! And I was sooo proud, when I spotted the mandarin ducks in the forest lake a week ago! Bam, you go and find something like this. Life isn't fair.

Neat. I have no clue what caused it, but it's really cool looking.

Do you remember where it was? 'Cause I'd have to go back and investigate further. Bring rope, for the slope. Or Jasmine - she may find a better route down for you.

I have no clue either!

Fool's gold, perhaps?

Ah, I think you're talking about Mandisa, who did a kickin' version of "I'm Every Woman" on Tuesday and I think Katharine who did "Think", not this week, but maybe last week. Gotta admit I'm torn between Mandisa and 'Pick' Pickler (Kellie), but if the choice I'm given is between the two, I'd have to go with Mandisa.

As far as the rock seeds go, no clue. As long as they're not lizard eggs...

Don't watch A.I. and those rocks are the strangest things I've ever seen.

I have never seen any rocks that look like that. I can't wait until you find out and clew us in on the identity of you find!

oops! "clue"

Looks like some kind of lichen or fungus, but I'm just guessing. You could try emailing the photos to a relevant department at a nearby University, but a closeup look (& photo) would help. I'm as curious as everyone else — except Clare, who seems to have it sussed ;^).

I don't recall seeing anything similar over here, but I'll certainly be on the lookout from now on.

Sabine, Mandarin ducks are very cool.

Ericka, I think I remember. Will have to try going back this weekend if it doesn't rain.

Hayneyz, maybe I will learn all their names eventually! Last night was kind of sad. The boy with glasses should have been out but wasn't. The guy who sang Percy Sledge should have stayed in WAY longer. I'm going to miss the black cowgirl, she had a lot of class.

Oops got to run, more later.

Cool rock! I'd like to know how that formed.
Being from AL, I want to like Taylor, too, but I really like the bald guy.
On an unrelated note....I think you mentioned the Pepper Place once in a post.Do you take your soap there, or were you just visiting? My brother in law is the goat cheese vendor there.

Rurality said...

No I was just visiting. The other 2 soapmakers there are friends of mine though. I have seen the goat cheese people! I think they have goat milk soap too if I remember correctly.

Janet said...

Yes,they have added soap in the last year or so.They also make goat cheesecakes. (interesting fact: Oprah Wynfrey is a customer of theirs)

Rurality said...

We have wanted to try their cheese, but it seems like everytime we're there, we're not going straight home... we've got 50 million other errands to do, and didn't want to leave the cheese in the hot car! Oprah huh? Small world!

About the rock... I tried to find it again yesterday but couldn't! It wasn't where I thought it was.

That is the coolest thing. You sure have a lot of neat stuff around your place.
