Those hens are surprisingly nice--I woulda thought they'd be more protective. That's so cute though. Makes me wanna buy a farm and get a bunch of chickens!
This hen is a Buff Orpington, which is a very docile breed. She squawks a little and makes pecking motions, and fluff her feathers all out - but doesn't really do any harm.
Unfortunately the other two eggs didn't hatch. I should have given her more of them I guess. I'll know better next time.
Living in rural north central Alabama. Currently overstocked with pets and poultry. Having lived in several small towns and larger cities, country life is taking some getting used to.
The photo is of Jasmine, fearless protector of the homestead from coyotes, bobcats, deer, herons, airplanes, butterflies and fuzzy little bunnies.

Oh, that little chickie face! What a great picture....also, I admit to being very envious that you get to enjoy it in person.
(Though I am hoping to perhaps have a few ducklings next year!)
